The next version (v4) of the ISO forms Add-in is now available. This version replaces v3. Below is additional information on the changes contained in this new release.

Changes in version 4 of the Add-in:
  • The ISO Forms Add-in is now compatible with Word 2016 as well as still being compatible with Word 2007, Word 2010 and Word 2013.

ISO Furnishes Advisory Business Interruption Options For Limited Civil Authority Coverage Related To Ebola

Terrorism Supplements, which were historically published as one manual, have been separated by line of business and are now available in the "Repository for Current Manuals, Previous Manuals and Manual Revisions" Section of the Print Ready Manuals (PRM). They can be viewed and/or downloaded in PDF format or WORD format.

The Terrorism Supplements included in the Commercial Lines Manual (CLM) will also be separated by line of business starting 7/28/2014.

CLM - Enhanced NTM Search

The Search for NTMs in the Commercial Lines Manual (CLM) has been enhanced to allow ISOnet users to search and retrieve Notice to Manualholders (NTMs) by lines of business, jurisdictions, service types, and time period or date range. ISO Court Report™ Service Now Available

ISO Court Report is a web-based service that offers you summaries of court decisions affecting property/casualty insurance — together with ISO staff commentary on those cases. Throughout the country, courts frequently consider various provisions in property/casualty policies. At ISO, we monitor developing case law to help keep our insurance products responsive and up to date. Historically, we've advised participating insurers of court decisions that lead to revisions in our insurance products.

Here's what you get

Now, with ISO Court Report, you can get the latest summaries of selected additional court cases related to property/casualty insurance. The summaries may consider court decisions that:
   •   uphold or otherwise address ISO policy wording
   •   address procedural issues insurers may face (such as claims handling or cancellation and nonrenewal)
   •   address other issues ISO is monitoring

The service also includes a "perspectives" section, where staff members of ISO's Insurance Programs and Analytic Services share their own views about the cases. ISO Court Report is now available for the general liability and commercial umbrella lines of insurance. We plan to add additional lines in the future.

You can also sign up for the ISO Court Report Alert Service. You'll receive an e-mail notifying you about new court summary releases. Each e-mail alert provides a title of the summary and includes an excerpt, so you can quickly identify those that might interest you. You also get a convenient link that takes you directly to the complete summary.

ISO Introduces Statistical Plans Alert Service

ISO has introduced a new Statistical Plans Alert Service to inform customers of quarterly updates to our statistical plans and manuals. Customers may sign up for these alerts via the Statistical Plans homepage on ISOnet. When signed up, customers will receive an email each time one of our Statistical Plans or our Territory Code Manual is revised. Alert emails will contain links connecting directly to both the complete versions and the revised portions of the updated plans.

These alerts will keep you and your company up-to-date with plan revisions that may affect how you report your statistical data.

The next version (v3) of the ISO Forms Add-in is now available. This version replaces v2. Below is additional information on the changes contained in this new release.

Changes in version 3 of the Add-in:

  • The add-in is now compatible with Word 2013 as well as still being compatible with Word 2007 and Word 2010.
  • The Coverages button has now been enhanced to include a drop down:
    • Add Coverages - opens the Coverage window and allows you to add ISO or Customer Coverages.
    • Sort Selected - allows you to alphabetize the selected list of Coverages.
  • The Document Validation button has new automatic checks for:
    • Em dashes in title styles

Version 2 of ISO Forms Add-in is now available

The next version (v2) of the ISO Forms Add-in is now available. This version replaces v1 and delivers improved speed in opening the add-in, and the ability to install the add-in to another location. Below is additional information on the changes contained in this new release.

Changes in version 2 of the Add-in:

  1. The following attributes will no longer be reset to ISO defaults when opening a Word document that uses the ISO Forms Add-in:
    1. Document View, Zoom, Track Changes, Bookmarks, and Print will keep the settings of the last save.
  2. The add-in can now be installed to a drive other than C:\.
    1. Note: The install location needs to be included as a Trusted Location (Word Options/ Trust Center/ Trust Center Settings.../ Trusted Locations) in order for the appropriate template to be recognized.
  3. The template will be attached to the Word document when a button is clicked on the appropriate Add-in toolbar except:
    1. Info button
    2. Header & Footer Wizard button (you will need to also fill in information and click OK)

Tracking ISO circulars made easy

After listening to our customers describe the challenges they encounter in tracking the 4,000 circulars ISO issues each year, we have developed an easy-to-use tool called ISO Circular Tracking Extract (CTE). CTE automates the manual process of recording/tracking each of these circulars.

The ISO Circular Tracking Extract is a consolidated MS-Excel file containing all the circulars ISO issued each day, along with the circular details such as Circular Number, Line, State, Effective Date, status (Filed, Approved...). The extract can easily be uploaded to whatever tracking system your company uses - eliminating the manual work performed today. The extract incorporates all ISO lines, yet this daily extract is customized to match the specific lines of business and states for which your company subscribes. ISO Introduces New Homeowners By-peril Rating Manual

ISO has introduced a new by-peril rating manual supplement for rating homeowner's risks. The new manual supplement provides the benefit of by-peril analysis for certain Homeowners policy forms. ISO's new alternate by-peril rating manual rules will allow insurers to evaluate the perils that pose the greatest risk for each insured in their book of business.

The Homeowners Policy provides coverage for many different perils but rating for the policy has traditionally considered the perils on a combined, all-perils basis. With by-peril rating, separate rates are developed for each peril, allowing insurers to analyze the portion of the total combined loss cost attributable to each peril and to look at the effects of perils individually. With by-peril rating, ISO provides participating insurers with base loss costs, rating factors and additional rating information for up to 9 individual perils.

"With our new Homeowners by-peril rating manual supplement, we are providing our insurer customers with an additional tool to refine the pricing for their homeowners book of business," said Kevin B. Thompson, President, Insurance Programs and Analytic Services at ISO. "The results of our by-peril analysis will be useful to insurers as they evaluate the effects of each peril on their homeowners' risks, to price those risks more accurately."

Information used in this new manual is derived from ISO Risk Analyzer® Homeowners (RAHO) --- a predictive model that develops expected losses at a highly refined level. While the Homeowners by-peril rating manual supplement provides rating information at the ISO territory level, RAHO provides even greater refinement, by providing rating information at the USPS ZIP code and even census block group level.

ISO will be filing the Homeowners by-peril rating manual supplement as an enhancement to the Homeowners rating information available to ISO participating insurers throughout 2013. For more information click here.

Detailed Class Information (DCI) Download via ISOnet Replaces CD-ROM Delivery

Beginning with the 2013 releases, users of ISO's Detailed Class Information (DCI) can conveniently download the product from ISOnet. This new delivery method allows expedited access to the DCI via the internet and eliminates the install from physical media.

The Detailed Class Information provides access to ISO's class level data by line of business. An interactive front-end query system allows the user to select subsets of data. Data can be easily exported as text files for use in other end-user applications, e.g. Microsoft® Excel.

The product is available for Commercial Auto, General Liability, Commercial Fire and Allied Lines, as well as Businessowners. The DCI includes premium and loss detail for the latest available five years of experience by state, classification, coverage, and type of loss. Other detail is also provided depending on line of business.

The DCI is derived from the same database as the ISO DataCube, a Cognos®-based product accessed via ISOnet that provides very similar data through a different delivery method. The DataCube also contains more detailed fields and is available for Homeowners, in addition to the other lines available with the DCI.

Emerging Issues Portal Now Available

We have added an Emerging Issues portal as a part of the current ERM portal on ISOnet. The portal features in-depth information on a variety of emerging topics of interest to insurance industry professionals. Among the many subjects now being tracked are hydraulic fracturing (fracking), nanotechnology, class action suits and autonomous cars. The information provided within the portal includes links to news publications and research papers from a wide variety of sources, making the ISO Emerging Issues Portal a powerful tool for your research needs. A Search Publications feature allows you to enter a word or phrase relating to the information you are seeking, to connect you with the responsive topics and sub-topics.

To help you remain up-to-date on important issues, the portal includes a News Feed to highlight new developments, and Today's Hot Link to provide you with more real-time information related to the emerging issues we are tracking.

NTM View is a new feature in the Commercial Lines Manual (CLM)

There is a new NTM View button available when you open a State Insurance Manual (SIM) through the ISOnet CLM. NTM View takes the open manual and generates a new first-level table of contents (TOC) that lists all the NTMs belonging to that SIM manual.

Expand an NTM TOC entry to see a sub-list of the forms, loss costs or rules that are in effect in the selected manual and are associated with that NTM. Click a TOC entry to display the text of the NTM along with its associated documents. Easily print the displayed text.

Print Ready Manuals for Commercial and Personal Lines Now Available

We are expanding the current Personal Lines Manuals (PLEMS) product by adding ISO's Commercial Lines manuals and sample forms portfolios and Personal Lines sample forms portfolios. Downloadable files will be provided for manual/portfolio revisions and complete manuals/portfolios.

With the addition of the commercial lines content, PLEMS will be renamed Print Ready Manuals (PRM).

Print Ready Manuals features include:

  • Two search options by line, state and service type:
    1. Complete Current Commercial and Personal Lines Manuals Sets
    2. Repository of current manuals, previous manuals, and manual revisions which contains:
      • Commercial Lines Manuals and Forms Portfolios (Personal and Commercial) - current and at least one prior revision if available
      • Personal Lines Manuals - current and historical information back to May 1, 2000
  • Related publications such as, Rating Plans, Premium Modification Plans, Auto Symbols and the ISO Inland Marine Handbook
  • Manuals viewable online and downloadable in a PDF and Word format.
  • PRM Alert Service that sends emails on the latest manual updates.

Print Ready Manuals does not replace the ISOnet Commercial Lines Manual (ISOnet CLM). The ISOnet CLM provides a fully integrated view of applicable state and multistate commercial lines manual information (rules, loss costs and forms) at a point in time which the user specifies. Print Ready Manuals provides downloadable files which duplicate ISO's paper manuals and sample forms portfolios.

Email Validation and Password Reset Features

The following security enhancements will be implemented for all ISOnet products in October 2009:

  1. Every six months, ISOnet users will be prompted to validate their email address. If an email validation is needed ISOnet will automatically prompt you to validate your email address when logging in. We anticipate the first email validation will occur the first time you log-on after October 5, 2009.
  2. Concurrent with the above change, we are introducing on-line, self-service for ISOnet password resets. Currently, ISOnet users must call the ISOnet Help Desk if they have forgotten their password. When this feature is introduced in October, users will be able to click a "Forgot my password" link on the ISOnet homepage and reset their own passwords.

Interactive PDF State Filing Forms Now Available

We have added interactive PDF State Filing Forms for the State Filing Handbooks.The initial upload includes all states that require companies to use the NAIC System for Electronic Rate and Form Filing (SERFF) filing process. These forms will allow users to enter the required information directly into the PDF form eliminating the need to create a Word Document to type in your entries. Additional features include:

  • Ability to enter digital signatures
  • Ability to enter multiple lines of information in fields without distorting the form
  • Automatic creation of a scroll bar when information you enter exceeds the size of the space provided in the form.
We will add Interactive PDF Filing Forms for the remaining states in the upcoming months.

Enterprise Risk Management For Insurers Portal Now Available

Newly included in basic participation, this web-based information service provides access to an extensive and ever-expanding array of papers, presentations, and other resources valuable to insurers developing, implementing, or enhancing enterprise risk management programs. This portal provides both ISO-generated content such as ISO ERM Forum agendas, minutes, and presentations, as well as selected publicly-available material from respected external sources.

Additionally, the ERM Portal also provides ready access to information about other ISO products and services that help insurers quantify and manage business risk. ISO's Insurer Enterprise Risk Management Portal is accessible here for basic participation customers.

Search for Rules - State Exception and Multistate is now available for the ISOnet Commercial Lines Manual (CLM)

With the new Search for Rules application you can search by rule number, line of business, jurisdiction and effective date to find and compare ISO State Exception and Multistate rules from the CLM. Options to search for all dates or all jurisdictions make this a powerful tool.

To assist you in learning to use the Search for Rules application, visit the CLM Demonstrations link on the left panel of the ISOnet CLM search page and play the recorded demo of this new application. Demos are also available for the CLM Alert Service and Search for NTMs applications.

In addition, there are links on the left panel to an improved CLM Help file and a new CLM User Training Guide covering all the CLM applications.
