ISO’s Territory Code Manual
The ISO Territory Code Manual (TCM) is a compendium of valid ISO territory
codes and their definitions, provided by state for each of the applicable commercial lines of business. The TCM is a convenient work
and reference tool that will help you locate territory codes and definitions for purposes of statistical reporting
and data review. You’ll use the manual most often with ISO’s commercial statistical plans. The TCM provides territory
detail for all these lines of business:
- commercial fire and allied lines
- farmowners
- medical professional liability
- general liability
- commercial automobile
- glass
- crime
- businessowners
The TCM is available on ISOnet in PDF. If you subscribe to the ISO Statistical Plan products on ISOnet, you’ll automatically get access to the TCM.
ISO Statistical Plans
An insurance company’s individual policies are the source of statistical data.
This data contains fundamental information about insurance coverages and the premium and loss experience related to those coverages. ISO’s Statistical Plans provide you with data elements, how to code data elements, record layouts for reporting premium and loss information of policies.
We maintain statistical plans for personal auto, personal lines (other than auto) and commercial lines. Each plan is broken down into two or three levels of detail for reporting data. This provides a reporting structure for both companies writing a small volume of business and for companies who need to report statistics in full detail.
ISO’s Statistical Plans are as follows:
Commercial Statistical Plan - CSP
Commercial Minimum Statistical Plan (Intermediate and Mini Levels) - CMSP
These two plans collect statistics for:
- Commercial fire and allied lines
- Farmowners
- Inland marine
- Medical professional liability
- General liability
- Commercial automobile
- Fidelity and forgery
- Glass
- Crime
- Equipment and Breakdown
- Earthquake
- Businessowners
Separate modules (sections) of the Statistical Plans contain the reporting and coding instructions for each line of insurance in the plan.
Personal Automobile Statistical Plan - PASP
Personal Lines Statistical Agent Plan (Automobile) - PLSAP(Auto)
These two plans collect statistics for:
- Liability
- No-Fault
- Physical Damage
Personal Lines Statistical Plan (Other Than Automobile) - PLSP(OTA)
Personal Lines Statistical Agent Plan (Other Than Automobile) - PLSAP(OTA)
These two plans collect statistical data for:
- Homeowners
- Dwelling fire and allied lines
- Mobilehome
- Earthquake
- Personal inland marine
- Personal liability
Separate modules (sections) of the Statistical Plans contain the reporting and coding instructions for each line of insurance in the plan.
ISO Statistical Circulars
ISO offers three types of Statistical Circulars geared for your specific insurance use.
- Statistical Division Circulars (SD) provide general information that may affect an insurer’s operations. ISO’s comprehensive circulars provide you help with:
- To distribute annual statistical calls
- To outline potential future statistical requirements
- To notify companies of insurance department activities or legislative data reporting bills
- To survey out statistical reporting participants when we want their opinions on a particular subject
- Statistical Plan Circulars (SP) announce changes to the statistical plans, such as quarterly revisions. We mail these circulars only to statistical plan holders.
- Statistical Information Series Circulars (SIS) help insurance company personnel perform tasks related to reporting data to ISO. The circulars may answer commonly asked questions or help interpret new requirements. Because these circulars are sometimes very long, we send only one copy to each designated recipient of SP and SD circulars.
